A Visitor to our Backyard

He visited our backyard a few weeks back. He is the most adorable and friendliest pup I’ve seen in a while. He wanted to stay and rub up against our legs. He wanted to have his tummy rubbed. I would have gladly complied if he wasn’t crawling with fleas!

The poor thing, no wonder he was rolling around and rubbing on us, on rocks on leg tables. He was miserable! He has a flea collar, so obviously somebody owns him and tried to fix the problem, but here he is, lose or on the run, and desperately seeking attention or relief. I felt so bad for him. He turned on his back wanting us to scratch his tummy, and as I started to reach down, I saw he was just crawling with fleas that his poor tummy looked like it was moving! I quickly pulled my hand back. I felt bad doing that, but itch and me just don’t get along. I go nuts when I have flea bites or mosquito bites and end up making the little bites worst that they should be.

After he left, we noticed he left behind about half of the fleas that were crawling on him. My husband had to spray the yard and we had to stay away from our usual roost until all the fleas were gone.
